EarthCraft

Welcome to EarthCraft, the UK’s premier destination for eco-DIY and natural craft projects that transform everyday materials into sustainable art and homewares. Learn how to upcycle driftwood into rustic shelving, turn reclaimed glass bottles into solar lanterns, and weave willow into garden structures. Our interactive “Project Finder” matches your skill level and available materials—plastic waste, cardboard, textile scraps—with step-by-step tutorials, video demonstrations, and downloadable templates. Join our seasonal challenges—Autumn Leaf Pressing, Winter Wreath upcycling, Spring Seed-bomb making—and share your creations in the EarthCraft community gallery. Craft a greener lifestyle, one handmade project at a time.

Who are you?

EarthCraft was founded in 2022 by a collective of makers, environmentalists, and craft-industry professionals united by a passion for creativity and sustainability. Frustrated by throwaway culture, we set out to empower UK households and schools with the skills to repurpose waste into beautiful, functional objects—reducing landfill, saving money, and fostering environmental stewardship.
Our multidisciplinary team includes professional artisans (woodworkers, weavers, ceramicists), eco-design educators from the Royal College of Art, and zero-waste campaigners. We partner with community centres, museums, and environmental charities across the UK to develop workshops, resource libraries, and pop-up craft labs. EarthCraft’s ethos is built on three pillars: Waste-to-Wealth, Hands-On Learning, and Community Creativity.
Under Waste-to-Wealth, we curate projects that transform common discards—tin cans, wine corks, plastic packaging—into marketable crafts and gifts. Hands-On Learning offers detailed tutorials, safety guidelines, and tool-kits for home, school, or makerspace environments. Community Creativity connects crafters through local meet-ups, online forums, and collaborative installations—such as our annual “Plastic Tide” sculpture made from collected beach debris.

We also maintain an open-source Materials Library: searchable data on upcyclable resources, local collection points, and seasonal natural materials—pine cones, seed pods, fallen branches. Monthly EarthCraft Challenges encourage members to innovate under themes like “Textile Transformation” or “Glass Re-imagined.” By combining artful making with environmental action, EarthCraft nurtures a culture of creativity, resilience, and ecological responsibility across the UK.

Our edge

  • Extensive Waste-to-Wealth Tutorials

EarthCraft’s project library features over 200 upcycling tutorials that turn household and garden waste into saleable crafts. Learn to convert tin cans into herb planters with decorative embossing, transform plastic bottles into vertical gardens, and repurpose cardboard into sturdy furniture prototypes. Each tutorial includes material-cost breakdowns, tool lists, safety notes (PPE, ventilation), and video walkthroughs. We test every project in real UK home settings—damp garages, small kitchens—to ensure reliability. Detailed “profit potential” guides show local craft-market pricing, helping you turn hobbies into micro-enterprises.
  • Hands-On Video Workshops & Kits

Our step-by-step video workshops are hosted by professional makers and eco-educators. Each session—candle-making from leftover wax, willow weaving, natural dyeing with onion skins—includes downloadable templates, troubleshooting tips, and Q&A segments. For beginners, we offer EarthCraft Starter Kits containing essential tools and materials. Advanced crafters can purchase speciality kits—glass-etching, metal-stamping, botanical resin casting. All kits use recycled or sustainably sourced components and come in minimal, compostable packaging.
  • Open-Source Materials Library

The EarthCraft Materials Library catalogs over 100 common and seasonal resources—textile offcuts, driftwood, seed pods, fallen leaves—alongside their properties, collection methods, and prep techniques. Interactive maps show local drop-off points for plastic film, glass, and metal, plus foraging guidelines for natural materials under UK foraging laws. This centralized resource saves you time and ensures legal, ethical sourcing. Each entry links to relevant projects, so you can immediately put newly found materials to creative use.
  • Community Challenges & Collaborative Art

We host quarterly EarthCraft Challenges—seasonal themes that spark innovation and community engagement. Past challenges have included “Plastic Tide Sculpture,” where participants contributed beach-found plastics to a nationwide art installation, and “Autumn Fibre Festival,” creating natural-dye tapestries for local galleries. Winning designs receive feature articles, small grants to develop prototypes, and exhibition slots at partner venues. Collaborative projects foster peer learning, celebrate ingenuity, and raise environmental awareness through public art.
  • Educational Outreach & School Programs

EarthCraft partners with primary and secondary schools to deliver curriculum-linked craft-for-sustainability modules. Our lesson plans align with the UK National Curriculum (Art & Design, Design & Technology, Science) and Eco-Schools framework. We provide teacher training, classroom-friendly kits, and on-site workshops covering topics like “Waste-Free Christmas Crafts” and “Biomaterials Exploration.” Students learn creative problem-solving, environmental science, and practical skills—fostering the next generation of eco-makers.
  • Market Access & E-Commerce Integration

We support crafters turning hobbies into income through our integrated EarthCraft Marketplace. Members can showcase and sell upcycled products, digital patterns, and workshop tickets. Our platform handles payments, postage-label generation, and VAT compliance. Built-in analytics track views, sales, and customer feedback, empowering makers to refine offerings. We also syndicate top sellers to partner eco-shops and farmers’ markets across the UK, expanding reach beyond the digital realm.
Our solutions
Bespoke Workshop Facilitation
We design and deliver tailored eco-DIY workshops for corporate team-building, community groups, and private events. Options include willow-weaving furniture, botanical-print textiles, and recycled-glass mosaic sessions. Our facilitators handle all materials, setup, and cleanup, ensuring engaging, hands-on experiences that foster creativity and environmental awareness.
School & Youth Programmes
EarthCraft’s education team delivers sustainable-craft modules in schools, youth clubs, and holiday camps. Sessions cover safe tool use, material science, and creative design—culminating in student exhibitions. We offer multi-week residencies and train school staff to continue projects independently.
Eco-Craft Consultancy for Brands
Retailers and consumer-brands can partner with EarthCraft to develop upcycled product lines, sustainable packaging concepts, and branded DIY kits. Our consultants guide concept development, prototype creation, and small-batch production—enhancing brand sustainability credentials and customer engagement.
Materials Sourcing & Supply
We aggregate surplus industrial materials—textile offcuts, wood offcuts, plastic film—and supply them to makers at low cost. Our logistics network collects from partner manufacturers and distributes to community hubs, reducing landfill and providing affordable resources for large-scale craft projects.
Digital Platform Licensing
Community centres, councils, and educational institutions can license the EarthCraft platform—Materials Library, Project Finder, and Challenge modules—under white-label arrangements. This turnkey solution fosters local eco-craft ecosystems with minimal IT investment.
Research & Development Collaborations
We collaborate with universities and R&D labs on projects exploring novel biomaterials—mycelium composites, algae-based plastics—and circular-economy craft methods. Partners gain co-authorship on publications, pilot-project insights, and access to maker networks for field testing.
